A textured Solid Color Hugger is so versatile to decorate around. While our basic solid color huggers are the most affordable, some folks want a step up in the quality of the fabric. This fabric is high quality, designer fabric but we do recommend you request a swatch to feel it. It is a heavier, stiffer fabric and some folks prefer a finer, softer fabric for bedding. WHAT IS A HUGGER COMFORTER WITH TWO TAILORED CORNERS?
CUSTOM: A Hugger comforter is a custom fitted comforter that is made to match your mattress dimensions or the dimensions you give us. This is not an “off the shelf” stocked item. That’s why it typically takes 2-3 weeks for production.
TWO TAILORED or BOXED CORNERS: A hugger comforter has two tailored (boxed corners) at the foot end of the bed and it’s cut to just cover the mattress depth. This gives a very fitted look to the bed showing off the bed frame. For some applications like day beds, we can tailor all 4 corners.
THREE LAYER CONSTRUCTION: A hugger comforter is made in 3 layers, a top fabric (usually 100% cotton), a reverse fabric (usually poly cotton broadcloth) and a layer of poly fill. The 3 layers are quilted together. Our hugger comforters are finished on both sides making them completely REVERSIBLE! The poly fill is usually sufficient for warmth and rarely do you need an extra blanket with a hugger.
HOW IT’S USED: It’s great on single bed mattresses like bunk beds, loft beds, captains’ beds, platform beds, kids’ beds, etc. Beds stay neat and tidy and elevated beds are safer because there is no loose, draping bedding to get tangled in.
Additionally, you can use a hugger comforter on any bed – the trick is to measure the area you want covered. So, for a bed with a box spring, you can use the hugger comforter on the top mattress and a box spring cover like a bed skirt on the bottom mattress. OR you can measure the entire area you want covered for both mattresses (for example 16”) and the hugger can cover both – no need for a box spring cover.
For sleeping, you use a hugger comforter just like a regular comforter. It’s a modern alternative comforter that makes bed making EASY and it makes beds look GREAT! It’s just not going to drape or hang like a traditional duvet or bedspread.
WHAT’S INCLUDED: This product is for ONE custom made hugger comforter. If you want pillows, you can add them. If you are buying these for a bunk bed with two mattresses, you do need to order TWO.
IMAGES: Images are so limited with these products. As much as we would like to have professional photos of every hugger we sell, that is not possible because we work with fabrics that come and go frequently. So, some pictures might show you the fabric on a bed but they may not be huggers. Or some photos may be visualizations that are realistic and to scale, but the bedding is slightly flat and not quilted. Either way, you get a pretty good idea what that swatch of fabric will look like on a bed. Your hugger will have a QUILTED TOP to hold the three layers together.
